Bruce L. Turner

Orator, story teller, researcher and historian

Great, Great, Great Grandson of Nat Turner

Nat Turner was known as the slave who planned and executed a rebellion against slave owners and slave masters on August 13,183. Bruce L. Turner shared his research on his great, great, great grandfather on The Keys 107. He revealed that Nat Turner was a selt taught man who became a Methodist preacher ministering to many slaves at various plantations. As a young boy he had visions where God spoke to him. His interpretations of the visions led him to a journey of preparation for freeing people from the grips of slavery. He taught himself how to make paper using the barks of trees he found in the woods. He learning how to track time by navigating the stars. And he learned how to make gun powder. All tools he would need for the rebellion he knew was coming. He looked for signs that he believed was God directed to launch the attack. His experienced a series of signs but it was the third sign of seeing a dark spot on the southern side of the sun that told him it was time. That evening there was a blood moon. At 2:00AM Turner was joined by six men who began the rebellion at Travis household where Nat Turner and his family, were enslaved. The rest is history. Read more

Eddie Holman

Singer

Vocalist extraordinaire Eddie Holman is among the most listened-to artists in the fields of popular and classic R&B music.  His unforgettable falsetto voice and the tune that he popularized is perhaps the most recognizable urban love-song in much of the English-speaking world.  "Hey There Lonely Girl" is the beautiful tune that seems to touch every ones soul as it emanates from airwaves or churns from the turntables of fans.  It is the composition that distinctly defines how it feels when the young gent helplessly yearns for his lady, the object of his affection, who has been spurned by her ex!  The song concludes: "Don't you know this lonely boy loves you!".  No other classic love-song in modern recorded history has had as much an impact on the lovelorn, or said it better than this 1970 mega-hit.
